Gundulf The Bishop of Rochester

Gundulf (1077-1108) was a Norman monk of Bec Abbey who came to England following the Norman Conquest.

In 1077 he was appointed Bishop of Rochester and Prior of the Cathedral Priory there built castles including Rochester, Colchester and the White Tower of the Tower of London and the Priory and Cathedral Church of Rochester.

The picture of Gundulf on the right holding a model of the Tower of London was taken above the 800 year old Great West Door of Rochester Cathedral.
