Rainham Kent

Rainham is located in the east of Medway next to the neighbouring district of Swale and can be accessed via the A2 Sittingbourne and A2 Gillingham.

Rainham once was a separate village until it became part of the borough of Gillingham in 1928. The borough of Gillingham became part of Medway in 1998.

In 1804 the population of Rainham was only 422 people while around 200 years later the population was over 6,000, the population increase was due to the introduction of the railway.

Rainham has a small shopping area and a public swimming pool called Splashes. Rainham is home to the first ever Oast House theatre where the Rainham Theatrical Society (RATS) Ltd regularly put on performances.

There is also a 100 hectare riverside country park which looks out to the Medway Estuary as well as the Berengrave Nature Reserve.
